Baclofen alters flash-evoked potentials in Long-Evans rats.
This experiment examined the effects of the GABA-B agonist baclofen on flash-evoked potentials (FEPs) recorded from both the visual cortex (VC) and superior colliculus (SC) of chronically implanted male Long-Evans rats. FEPs were recorded at 5, 25, 45, and 65 min following intraperitoneal injections of saline, and of 1.25, 2.5, 5.0, and 10.0 mg/kg baclofen on separate days. In the VC, the ampli...
متن کاملEvans Function for Lax Operators with Algebraically Decaying Potentials
We study the instability of algebraic solitons for integrable nonlinear equations in one spatial dimension that include modified KdV, focusing NLS, derivative NLS, and massive Thirring equations. We develop the analysis of the Evans function that defines eigenvalues in the corresponding Lax operators with algebraically decaying potentials. The standard Evans function generically has singulariti...
متن کاملRelative local variational principles for subadditive potentials
We prove two relative local variational principles of topological pressure functions P (T,F ,U , y) and P (T,F ,U|Y ) for a given factor map π, an open cover U and a subadditive sequence of real-valued continuous functions F . By proving the upper semi-continuity and affinity of the entropy maps h{·}(T,U | Y ) and h+{·}(T,U | Y ) on the space of all invariant Borel probability measures, we show...
متن کاملEvaluation of sensory evoked potentials in Long Evans rats gestationally exposed to mercury (Hg0) vapor.
Mercury is known to alter neuronal function and has been shown to cross the placental barrier. These experiments were undertaken to examine if gestational exposure to mercury vapor (Hg(0)) would result in alterations in sensory neuronal function in adult offspring. Dams were exposed to 0 or 4 mg/m(3) Hg(0) for 2 h/day from gestational days 6-15. This exposure paradigm has been shown to approxim...
متن کاملThank Evans!
In this paper we give a complete solution to the conjecture of Evans made in 1960 that if n— 1 cells of an nxn matrix are preassigned with no element repeated in any row or column then the remaining n — n+ 1 cells can be filled so as to produce a latin square. We in fact prove the stronger statement that n cells can be preassigned except in certain cases which we specify.
